Burial database

Cleveland Family History society maintains a database of over 895,000 burials in parishes within the old North Riding of Yorkshire and Southern part of County Durham.

The date range of our database is mainly 1700-1900.

10 - 15% of burials are of people who, at the time of their death, did not live in their parish of origin - some from other parishes, but others from adjoining counties and some from far distant ones.

Although we are unable to undertake research for individuals, we can supply information from our Burial Database for a small fee of £2 per surname.

To request a search, please download and complete our BURIALS ORDER FORM then send this, together with

  • a sterling cheque for £2 made payable to Cleveland FHS and

When we do your search, we will extract all records of a named person. It helps to have the date and place when last known to be alive, e.g. Joseph CUMMINS, 1851, Stockton, wife Mary

For £2 per name (up to 100 entries) you would get a list of burials, with full details from Parish registers, of ALL Joseph CUMMINS buried after 1851, Variants, e.g. Josh/Jos/Jo COMYNS CUMIN etc. will be included. (Cost for a larger number of printouts is negotiable)
