Saturday 29 September 2018 10am – 4pm
Durham County Record Office, County Hall, Durham DH1 5UL
£5.00 – a small charge to cover refreshments and buffet lunch on the day.
This year the Durham at War team invites members of the public to join them at the third and final conference. With the 1914-18 centenary soon drawing to a close, the office is offering a lively programme of talks, displays and film previews over the past four years.
Speakers include one of the UK’s most exciting military historians, Andy Robertshaw, who was historical adviser to Steven Spielberg on the blockbuster film ‘War Horse’. Andy’s conference talk will focus on WW1 myth-busting. Authors, historians, archaeologists and volunteers will share their research into the identification of bodies recently recovered from a battlefield of 100 years ago, medical provision during the Battle of the Somme, women at war and new techniques for uncovering First World War archaeology.
