With exhibitors from all over the UK and Ireland, this is the largest family history show in the North of England. Many family history societies, archives and companies will attend. You don’t have to have York Ancestors to come to this fair – they can be from anywhere at all!

Experts cover a wide range of topics, including Military, DNA, House Histories, Social History, Brick Walls and General Research. Put your research questions to an expert, listen to free talks throughout the day, speak to a family history society, archive or genealogical supplier.

North Yorkshire County Record Office

Visiting the Record Office Please make an appointment before visiting. At present, we can only accommodate a limited number of visitors at any one time and may not be able to accommodate visitors arriving without an appointment. Please book a place even if you only want to consult microfilm or printed catalogues, or use the People’s Network computer. Each booking is for one person only. If you wish to bring someone with you, please let us know and we will reserve another place for them. We recommend that you order original documents in advance where possible but we will accept additional document requests during your visit. Staff and volunteers will continue to wear face coverings for now and we would encourage our visitors to do the same. Opening hours Monday: closed Tuesday: 9.30am to 12:30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm Wednesday: 9.30am to 12:30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm Thursday: 9.30am to 12:30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm Friday: closed Saturday: closed Sunday: closed We will review these opening hours regularly.
